In My Content Plan post, I mentioned a topic ( A girl from a developing country and her challenges during and after migration) that I am going to write about. This story will be in this category.
Every place has its own culture which is different from other places. The place can be related to a neighborhood, a city, a country or else.
When you grow up in a culture, your mind will save all the rules in that culture and after migration, one of the challenges you will face is the mind tricks according to that saved rules.
Let me explain this with an example.
In my country, Fridays are weekend. But here, we have to work on Fridays. Getting up and going to work is the hardest thing to do on Fridays!
And, it is a mind trick.
Because, our mind is trying to use less energy, so it is trying to keep everything how it was! It is resisting change.
I can say for myself, not others, these kinds of differences may cause some challenges for you, as I have faced them.
- Jokes (Which I don’t understand most of them)
- Folklore in daily use
- Idioms in daily use
- Most important: Culture
I think I can explain everything better with examples:
There is personal privacy difference here in Germany, asking questions is so hard, you should analyze every question before saying it aloud.
Or, imagine somebody is on the ground, you don’t know if you can go near and help or not.
Or, you want to join a gathering, you don’t know if they have a dress code or not.
Or, because of the cultural differences, you don’t know if something you have in mind is a joke, a sarcasm or an insult.
IMO, all of the above can be categorized in some kind of challenges you “may” face after migration.
It does not depend on the kind of migration, city to another city or country to another country, any place may / will have a different culture.
This may cause you to become homesick, feel alone or avoid communicating with people. You may become shy, you may lose confidence at some point, and all of these negative feelings are normal. You just need some time to learn.
Be ready for everything, be ready for mind tricks. Be ready for mind resistance to change, and don’t be frightened. Be patient, you will learn.
